Shockwave therapy or soundwave therapy is used primarily to treat soft tissue conditions like plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendinitis. If you have one of these conditions and your Colorado, New Mexico or Utah podiatrist recommends this particular treatment, you’ll be happy to know that it is effective about 80% of the time. It’s an efficient alternative to surgery, as no anesthesia is needed and you can go about your normal daily activities after this outpatient treatment. If you receive shockwave therapy, you can expect treatment to be fast, too, so that you can get back to your life quickly.
Diagnostic ultrasound is used to help diagnose foot and ankle conditions that an x-ray would miss, like soft tissue conditions. Most people are familiar with this type of technology because it’s used in an OB/GYN office every day. It helps to identify conditions such as Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis, and it also helps us guide injections for more accurate treatment when needed. Diagnostic ultrasound is an excellent tool to help identify your foot or ankle conditions, and it’s about one tenth the cost of an MRI.
Digital x-rays allow us to diagnose issues you may be having in the bones or joints of your feet or ankles. These types of issues include heel spurs, hammertoes, bunions, and a number of other foot problems that can develop. Our digital x-ray machine helps us to quickly diagnose and treat your foot or ankle condition because the images are immediately available to us on a computer screen. Your treatment can then be carried out faster and with more accuracy if you have an issue with the joints or bones in your feet and ankles.
To further benefit you and your foot and ankle needs, we offer access to a weight bearing lower extremity CT machine. This equipment helps us to diagnose foot or ankle conditions that other podiatrists can’t because it allows us to see things we normally wouldn’t be able to see in an x-ray alone. This is partially due to a curved beam of light that helps to reconstruct 3D images of your feet in “slices” so that we can better determine what foot or ankle conditions you may have. The scans are usually very fast, and we’re the only podiatrists in the entire state of CO to offer a CT of this caliber.
When a physical condition or injury affects mobility or quality of life, there is one goal: A rapid return to every-day activities. Our Clinic is proud to be on the medical technological forefront by offering MLS Laser Therapy. We have invested in the very best technology as a key component of our continuing quest to offer you the finest in health care.
MLS Laser Therapy uses specific wavelengths of light that have a strong anti-inflammatory, anti-edema effect on tissues that are exposed to the laser. Painful conditions accompanied by swelling or inflammation benefit from this technology. Photons of laser energy penetrate deeply into tissue and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth. As a result of exposure to the MLS Laser, the cells of tendons, ligaments and muscles repair themselvesfaster. As inflammation is reduced pain subsides very quickly. In simple terms, laser energy kick-starts the healing process, thereby speeding recovery.
There are no known side-effects! Laser therapy is cleared by the FDA and is safe and effective. Click Here to learn more!
